Cora Usurelu Wins Chancellor’s Scholarship

FEBRUARY 23RD, 2021

Brain Power alumna Cora Usurelu has been selected as one of 50 recipients of the prestigious Queen’s Chancellor’s Scholarship (valued at $36,000)! The scholarship requires that the candidate demonstrate superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, and proven leadership qualities. Cora will be attending her first year of Queen’s Commerce in the fall! CONGRATULATIONS, CORA!

Achinthyaa Kaveri Wins Writing Competition

Brain Power student Achinthyaa Kaveri has been awarded the Silver Key in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers for her short story “The Last Painting.” In the past, the Scholastic Awards has recognized some famous artists when they were teenagers, including  Andy Warhol, Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, and Kay Walkingstick CONGRATULATIONS, ACHINTHYAA!

Jerry Di Researches Tourette Syndrome

Brain Power student Jerry Di has been working with people from the University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, and other institutions develop new ways to diagnose and treat people with Tourette syndrome. Andrew Botros Places in Math Competition

Brain Power student, Andrew Botros, has placed 7th in the Professional Engineers of Ontario 2020 Mathletics Competition! WOW! That is so exciting! Andreea Murariu Wins QGEM Essay Contest!

Andreea Murariu won 2nd place in Queen’s University’s prestigious QGEM Essay Contest!  The QGEM is part of Queen’s iGEM team (International Genetically Engineered Machine), who “culture bacteria to re-engineer biology for new applications in medicine, the environment, and more.” Andreea has been a Brain Power student for many years and recently completed Senior 2 Language Arts — a course that rigorously prepared Andreea’s knockout essay-writing skills!
