Field Trips & Activities

At Brain Power we believe that excellent learning can occur in and out of the classroom. That’s why we give our students the opportunity to participate in educational field trips and activties throughout the school year!  Whether we are going to the CBC to see a taping of “The Debaters” or meet Margaret Atwood, or visiting a professional recording studio to record our own performances, or taking to the great outdoors to participate in environmental initiatives, or travelling across the country to Cape Breton to experience the diversity of our Canadian culture, Brain Power is always finding new ways to learn!

Recording Studio – 2015/16

JUNE 19TH, 2016

It’s time for Brain Power’s annual Public Speaking visit to a professional recording studio! Our students got a chance to record their self-made speeches and podcasts, putting much of the theory they learned in class into practice. They also got to see “behind the scenes” at a professional recording studio! Everyone had an amazing day, and who knows … we might have some future media stars among us! Click to enlarge images

Escape Games Challenge

MAY 19TH, 2016

With the help of Origin Room Break, Brain Power students managed to have a field trip without even leaving our headquarters! Each of our classrooms was turned into a fantastic “escape room,” and our students (of different ages) had to work together to solve a series of riddles and puzzles in order to win! Astronuts Space Camp

MAY 19TH, 2016

We had a blast (literally!) at the Dunlap Observatory in Richmond Hill on May 14th! The Astronuts (yes, Astro-nuts!) Space Camp was phenomenal as many students received the incredible opportunity to talk to astronauts from the ISS and participate in many educational astronomy-related afternoon activities, including hanging out at the Brain Power booth – with awesome brain puzzles, games, and more.

Brain Power’s Public Speaking students meet with former PM Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s (yup, Justin’s dad!) friend Brooke Johnson, a famous Canadian actress, at the Brampton Rose Theatre! It was a fascinating evening of history, politics, intrigue, and discussions on performance and presentation skills! Meeting Brooke Johnson!

Into the Woods

JANUARY 19TH, 2016

Brain Power students attended a performance of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” (1986) at the University of Toronto’s beautiful Hart House Theatre. Bringing together beloved and not-so-beloved characters from classic fairy tales, “Into the Woods” manages to make the familiar unfamiliar, provoking new insights out of stories we all thought we knew. Our students also got the amazing opportunity to participate in a post-show talk with the actors and director!
