Public Speaking Contest
Let your voice be heard! Brain Power’s “Speak Your Mind” Public Speaking Contest gives students from Grades 4-12 the chance to present their ideas on real-world issues in a compelling way.
Whether you’re addressing social change or the complexities of progress, this is the perfect stage to develop your speaking skills and share your perspective.
Speech Topics:
- Grades 4-5: If I Could Change One Thing
Students in this category will deliver a 2.5-3 minute speech on the one thing they would change about the world if they could. This topic encourages young students to think critically about the world around them and propose changes—whether big or small—that could make a meaningful difference. Judges will look for clear ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm. - Grades 6-8: Voices of the Future
Students in this category will present a 3.5-4 minute persuasive speech on a real-world issue they are passionate about. The topic can range from social justice to environmental sustainability. Judges will evaluate the strength of their argument, their ability to engage the audience, and the effectiveness of their presentation skills. - Grades 9+: The Complexity of Progress
Students in this category will deliver a 4.5-5 minute speech on how advances in technology, society, or science shape the future. This challenging theme requires deep analysis and asks speakers to explore the nuanced impacts of progress—both positive and negative—on society. Judges will assess originality, delivery, and the ability to inspire thoughtful reflection.
