Brain Power’s book club read Mark Haddon’s Whitbread Award winning “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” A story about a 15-year-old boy who sees the world in a way that differentiates him from most people, it is also a fascinating mystery novel, and a lesson in empathy and “seeing the world through someone else’s eyes.”
We had a fascinating discussion about this novel, considering how people who see the world differently (e.g. people with autism) deal with being surrounded by people who often don’t understand, the fact that the world exists for each of us from a specific (and limited) perspective. and the value of empathy.
