Science Research 101

Grades: 9+
Dates & Times: March 10 (4:30 – 6:30pm), 12 (7:15 – 9:15pm), 14 (7:15 – 9:15pm), 16 (4:30 – 6:30pm)

Enter the world of science research! Modern technological, medical, engineering, or policy advancements in society often result from scientific research—but what is it and how do we do it?

In this four-lesson workshop, students will explore what science is, what it means to do science research, and examples of innovative research happening right now. They’ll learn how they can get involved and create their own research projects. We’ll discuss how to find mentors for these projects and execute their research vision. Keep in mind, advanced science fair projects, conference presentations and scientific publications make university applicants stand out!  Students with research knowledge and publications have better chances at obtaining university scholarships!

By the end of the workshop, each nascent researcher will have developed a research vision and chosen potential mentors and venues to present or publish their research. The workshop aims to set them on the path to make their research aspirations a reality!
